Heidiland

Did you know there is a place in Switzerland called Heidiland?
We didn't stop at Heidiland but this photo I took up in the mountains reminded me of the Heidi TV series that I used to watch as a child.
Apparently over 100 Heidi movies have been filmed in the mountains of Switzerland
(so Marcel tells me).

Bleach Butterflies

It sounds a bit weird I know.

But these are butterflies I have stamped over the top of a distressed and stamp background.
I have then used bleach (cheap household stuff) to remove the colour in some areas.

Small Winter Wonderland

Brenda made these cards using our new Small Winter Wonderland stamps.

These stamps are all different sizes to those in the set Winter Wonderland Friends, so work perfectly together to build up a bigger scene.

Switzerland Day 4

Breakfast started with a Banana, Cherry and Apricot Smoothie.

This morning we got the train from Ilanz to Chur (Bernina Express), it runs alongside the river Rhein which is spectacular and very popular for rafting and canoing - although sometimes a little dangerous.
After spending a couple of hours in the town of Chur we took the train back a few stops and then asked the conductor the best place to get off so we could walk alongside the Rhein.
We got off the train where he suggested and walked about 4-5 km along the Rhein until we found a sandy beach to sit and relax on and soak up the cool fresh air.
The water is very glacial looking (blue) and quite chilly - I only put my hand in but Kira the dog was happy to run in and out of the water.

Mini Bethlehem Stained Glass

With our new O Little Town of Bethlehem word stamp in the background.

I embossed the stained glass with black powder and then coloured with Metallic Pencils.

Switzerland Day 3

This morning we had Banana and Cherry with yoghurt smoothie followed by Apricot with milk smoothie.
As well as pureed Apricots on our muesli with yoghurt.
So you think - oooh really healthy, yes but then we had honey on bread!

I am definitely going to have to get myself a blender/smoothie maker but preferably one that is easy to clean.  If you have any recommendations please let me know.

After breakfast we drove 3 hours to their holiday apartment in the Swiss Alps - Obersaxon.
This is the view from the services on the highway.

Their apartment is on the ground floor of this building with the mountains in the background.
They have a ski lift very close by so they have enjoyed lots of skiing this winter.

After arriving at the apartment we then went for a walk around the mountains where there are hundreds of these cabins for the farmers to stay in whilst their cows are up here.

Marcel, Marta (farmer) and Jacqueline.

Switzerland Day 2

After teaching all day Saturday we went to a 60th Birthday party, which Jacqueline told me would be in a cabin in the woods.  So I had visions of a bbq outside a garden shed!  But this was a log cabin a lot bigger and nicer than I expected.
Although being in the woods did get me sneezing quite a lot.

Now, what I haven't mentioned yet is that on previous trips Jacqueline has been serving up freshly squeezed orange juice and carrot juice with breakfast.  This time it was all about the smoothie.
On the first morning we had strawberry smoothies - which she makes with a little natural yoghurt or sometimes milk depending on the fruit.
On this morning we had a banana and strawberry smoothie with breakfast.

Switzerland Day 1

I've been in Switzerland for the last week teaching classes.
Above are 3 of the cards we made on the first day.

Classes finished about 8pm and then we went into the local town of Winterthur for a festival,
There were hundreds of stalls selling food and drink and playing music as well as a big fun fair.
A group of ladies from the classes came with us for the evening which was great fun.
