Judi & Rob have landed. They left LA on Tuesday evening and arrived in London yesterday afternoon, anyone that has ever made this journey knows how difficult it is to stay awake past 6pm. So it was up to us to keep them awake until at least 9pm so they could wake up this morning feeling refreshed with as little jet lag as possible.

Well, Rob & Judi love watching movies and having spent several hours catching up on family and gossip we decided to watch the movie Avatar - I've never managed to watch this one all the way through so did not realise how long it was!

The movie was brilliant and although they had already seen it in the cinema Rob & Judi did manage to stay awake throughout the whole film. But and this is a big but, it didn't finish until nearly 12.30 which is an unusually late night for me (and very late for them considering they have hardly slept in 2 days) - so late in fact that I didn't wake up until after 8am this morning and I almost never do that!

We will be going into the shop today and should make it there sometime this morning so if you want to drop in and say hi to Rob & Judi they would love to see you. Or if you are coming to the show in Bury St Edmunds on Sunday they will be with us, we've even managed to persuade Judi to run our Make & Take.

It is already 9am so I better go get dressed and attempt some work.

Pear Reindeer

Of all the Some assembly Required Pear animals I think this is my favourite, I do have a soft spot for reindeers.

We will have these hanging on our stand at the NEC next week.

Pear Snowman

You do need to plan ahead when creating this characters, on this one the nose and eyes are added afterwards but the mouth and cheeks are drawn before assembly.

Pear Penguin

To create the Penguin you need the same Basic Pear Stencil Set from Some Assembly Required, as yesterday.
For this one you add wings, eyes and a beak and when creating the basic shape remember to do 2 pieces in white and the rest in black.

To create the Angel you need The Basic Pear Stencil Set from Some Assembly required. Did you see our Christmas Trees from SAR last year? The Pear works in the same way but you can add things like faces, wings, etc to create different characters and animals.

Elegance & Glamour

Do you want to give your cards and presents that extra bit of elegance and glamour?
We have wrapped the box with velvet ribbon and added a Nunn metal embellishment from the pack of 3 Small Contempo Ribbon Details.

On the card we have used the Nunn Contempo Frame and Medium Flower Dangles.

Velvet Ornament

The ornament shape comes from a Sizzix die. The velvet was then placed in an embossing folder and through the Cuttlebug.
The background is JudiKins Funky Xmas Pattern stamped in Brilliance.

Simply Cards & PaperCrafts

This is the card that Lesley created for the Best of British supplement available with the current issue of Simply Cards & PaperCrafts.

The background has been created by making a multicoloured inkpad using cut n dry felt and Distress re-inkers - for full instruction pick up a copy of the magazine.

Alcohol Inks on Metal

On our Demo Day Lesley was playing with metal, alcohol inks and embossing folders. The owl shape is cut from the metal using the Spellbinder Shapeability and then placed inside an embossing folder. Coloured with a variety of alchol inks.

This sheet of metal was embossed with the Nellie snellen Reindeer stencil, which for some reason has disappeared from our website but we do have them in store.

On day 2 of the weekend everyone managed to make these 10 cards, so hopefully they are now all set for Christmas.

Christmas Cardmaking Weekend

A big thank you to all the 18 ladies that attended our Christmas cardmaking weekend, everyone managed to make all 19 cards and we had a fabulous time and hope you all did too.

We even had sunshine all weekend.

Plans are afoot for another cardmaking weekend in the Spring.

Demonstrations In Store Now

Paula Pascual has been playing away with her clear stamps and some of our rubber stamps all morning and will be here until 4pm.

Lesley has been playing with Alcohol inks and metal, the owl is a Nestability. And Vicky is working with the melt pot and lots of different embossing powders - you'll be amazed at the results you can achieve.
